Some people may be completely distraught at the thought of girl group Fifth Harmony going their separate ways. Some people may have seen it coming a mile off, and some people may be excited for what is to come from the girls now that they are going to focus on their solo endeavors. Nevertheless, let’s look on the bright side of Fifth Harmony’s announced hiatus and look back at all the amazing achievements the girls have accomplished individually (all in the last couple of years).
Ally Brooke, the oldest of the group, has collaborated with renown artists such as DJ Topic, DJ duo Lost Kings, and ASAP Ferg, as well as performing for E!News and appearing solo on the cover of Contrast Magazine.
Normani recently smashed the charts with her track Love Lies, working with the incredibly talented Khalid. Before this she participated on last year’s Dancing with the Stars earning herself third place.
Lauren Jauregui has worked with the likes of Halsey, Marian Hill, Steve Aoki and her real-life partner Ty Dolla $ign, earning her own music video for All Night, a place on the Billboard Hot 100 with Strangers and was voted the sexiest woman of 2016 by AfterEllen.com.
Dinah Jane has had the opportunity to work with worldwide phenomenons such as RedOne, Daddy Yankee, French Montana and Leona Lewis (and she’s only 20 years old!)
Not to mention the release of the girl’s 3rd studio album, four singles and music videos (whilst collaborating with rapper Gucci Mane), touring their album to South America and Asia, performing at the 2017 VMA’s, winning favourite group at the People’s Choice Awards for their second consecutive year, participating in the soundtrack for the Sony Christmas movie The Star, and working alongside Pitbull to release their track and fifth music video Por Favor which was released in Spanish and Spanglish versions.
It’s safe to say, the girls have worked their ass’s off in the past year and have had such amazing opportunities to work with producers and artists who really allow the members of Fifth Harmony to create and grow at their own potential. Although the group may not be all over the charts, it is clear they have status and power in the music industry and fellow artists appreciate and respect their artistic freedom.
So, do Fifth Harmony NEED each other anymore? It doesn’t look like it. Although the girls have made it clear they are going on a “hiatus” and even spoke about returning to the group one day, it seems that if they keep up this individual success, this may be it for the big 5H. *sigh*
It feels like each of the girls have secured a good spot in the industry and with the producers and artists they want to work with and that’s amazing! They have really established recognition and respect and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
